Join us back in the Waterloo Convention Center July 20th - our program will be Dr. Jeanne Rupert from the University of Dubuque who is starting a new program on Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Rupert is a fellow Rotarian and will be accompanied by Angie Hedy, also a Rotarian and our district's membership chairperson. Jeff Halverson referred this program to our club.
Dr. Jeanne Rupert has over two decades of experience in academic leadership, clinical care, and public health. Her work has focused on primary care, rural and underserved populations, and osteopathic medical education. Originally from Erie, Pennsylvania, Rupert completed her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine and Family Medicine residency at Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, Ohio. She holds a Doctor of Philosophy in history, a Master of Arts in economics, and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish.
She pursued a career in family medicine in a variety of settings but always emphasized providing care for rural and underserved populations. She has worked with osteopathic medical schools as a faculty member and administrator in California, Washington, and Arkansas.
Her proudest career achievement was the establishment of new residency programs in a rural community north of Seattle, which have continued to thrive and educate family medicine and internal medicine doctors for the state of Washington. Dr. Rupert has served on the boards of the Washington Osteopathic Medical Association, the Washington Osteopathic Foundation, the Iowa Osteopathic Medical Association, and the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians—Upper Midwest division.
Dr. Rupert is delighted to make her home in Dubuque and has enthusiastically joined community activities such as Rotary Club of Dubuque, Envision 2030, and the Dubuque Area Writers Guild (DAWG).
