The Rooted Carrot Co-op Market is a grassroots effort to establish a community-owned grocery store that emphasizes local, healthy, and sustainable.
Tom Wickersham is a member of the Co-op’s board of directors. During the the day he serves as the Program Director at the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa.
The Rooted Carrot is owned by 1,100 (and growing!) community members. Initially established as the Cedar Falls Food Co-op, the name was changed in 2020 to demonstrate the regional impact the Co-op would have throughout the greater Cedar Valley in job growth, attracting food tourism, stimulating entrepreneurialism, and supporting area producers, farmers, and ranchers. The Rooted Carrot’s unique capital campaign is currently underway, and the store is scheduled to open in the summer of 2022.
