"Hops & Grapes" To Benefit Charities

July 18, 2011 - Northeast Iowa Food Bank and Salvation Army explains what they plan to do with their share of the proceeds from our annual fund raiser, "Hops and Grapes."

First Barb Prather from the Northeast Iowa Food Bank explained that her organization would use funds to support the Student Fund Drive which last year generated over 45,000 pounds of food by eight high school teams. Then Rob Whitney from the Salvation Army told the club about his group's plans to update equipment in the organization's family activity center.

The two groups were chosen by vote of our members last spring to benefit from proceeds of our fourth-annual Hops and Grapes which will be held Friday, August 26 at the Isle Casino. Another portion of the net profit will be invested in the club's "Operation Warm" project which donates winter coats to local school kids. So all funds will go to youth projects.

Before the presentations, Chris Hurley told members each would be given four tickets to the event to sell or use. They are $35 each. Hurley, who chairs the event, explained that another fund-raising element will be a raffle.
