Giving
Nears Goal
Club members have done an excellent job
of
supporting the Rotary Foundation this year. With three months left in
the year,
we’re already at 91 percent of the goal set by President Art.
Club members
have given $10,416 to the annual programs
fund or $56 per member. Our giving ranks us third in the district
behind

Wine
Tasting Tickets
Are a
Hot Item
The good news is that club members have
bought 150
tickets for the May 14 “Cheers to You Cedar Valley” wine tasting event.
This is
the club’s primary fund raiser for the year.
But
more tickets are still available, so please don’t
slow down your sales effort. Three local non profits are counting on us
to help
close their budget needs.
Tickets are $35 per person and

Next
week’s meeting on May 5 has been cancelled so that
members can attend the Friday noon session of the district conference
in
Waverly with our club paying for the meal.

Rotarians Work Another Miracle in
On our trip to
Isaac
had legs that were so badly deformed and bowed that he walked on the
outside of
booth feet rather than the bottoms. Frank has worked for about three
years to
find a way to get Isaac to the
Children's Hospital and
they agreed to treat Isaac for free. In March Frank went to
On
April 4 Isaac had arthroscopic surgery on both legs; eight plates were
placed
in his legs where they are expected to begin straightening his legs
over the
next year. He also received the rickets injections which should
stimulate
faster growth in the bones.
Five
days later he left the hospital. He and his mom are staying with
another
Houston Rotarian, Tom Juarez, during his follow up visits to the
hospital. At
his first check-up after only two weeks, he told the doctors that his
right leg
had already begun to straighten. They were surprised to find that this
was
true. He went back for another check-up last Wednesday and thenhe
visits the Rickets
clinic on April 29 to evaluate his response to that treatment.
